If you’re a long-haired girl who loves to spend her beach days floating around snorkeling, you may have noticed that it can completely destroy your hair.

I have baby-fine curly hair that loves to tangle around anything it can, including snorkeling masks. After much lost hair, and a lot of trial and error, I think I’ve finally found a solution. No more calling for assistance in the shower to untangle the rat’s nest on my head. (Yes, I seriously once had to call someone to assist me for almost 15 minutes just to get my hair workable again.)
The solution:
- A French braid. Ponytails, messy buns and most other cute hairstyles just don’t work for a day of floating face down in the ocean. French braids are definitely back, and they are the perfect solution.
- Copious amounts of conditioner applied just before getting in the water, and left in.
Slathering your hair in conditioner really is the key.
And, if you love snorkeling, look in to getting a swim shirt like this one! I slather myself in sunscreen, and it’s still not enough. Don’t ruin your trip with a fried back that leaves you hiding in the shade!
